Free Jazz Concerts in Venice for the 6th Year!
The Jazz Club of Sarasota is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation for the sixth consecutive year to provide free outdoor jazz concerts in Venice starting in January 2014. With several jazz bands providing the music, hundreds of area music lovers will be able to again enjoy an afternoon of family enjoyment at the Centennial Park in Venice. Gulf Coast and the Jazz Club of Sarasota will present the Joy of Jazz series on week-ends in January, February and March. Dates will be announced later this year.
About Gulf Coast: Together with its donors, Gulf Coast Community Foundation transforms our region through bold and proactive philanthropy. Gulf Coast is a public charity that was created in 1995 through the sale of the Venice Hospital. Since then, it has welcomed more than 500 charitable funds established by generous donors and invested more than $148 million in the community through grants in the areas of health and human services, education, civic and economic development, arts and culture, and the environment. The Jazz Club of Sarasota is almost solely funded by its members, approximately 750 and growing. With dozens of volunteers, the Jazz Club of Sarasota is one of the most active jazz clubs in the US with over 80 concerts and lectures a year.
In addition to supporting The Jazz Club of Sarasota, members receive reduced admission, a quarterly newsletter and a weekly e-newsletter of jazz happenings in the area.
Plus, members support our efforts to award scholarships each year to local young musicians. Over the years, we have awarded more than 150. What a great investment in the future of jazz!
