The Giving Challenge

 —  —

"What a diff'rence a day makes."

Twenty-four little hours...."

The lyrics to that great jazz standard say it all. For just 24 hours, from noon on Tuesday, September 1, through noon on Wednesday, September 2, your contribution to the Jazz Club of Sarasota will be doubled through the 2015 Giving Challenge. Don't miss this great opportunity to join in our mission!

If you love jazz, here's your chance to help us as we fulfill our mission: to preserve, promote, present and educate people about jazz, the original American musical art form.

The Jazz Club of Sarasota, one of the largest and most active jazz societies in the United States, has provided over 50 jazz-related events every year since our founding in 1980. Chief among them is the highly respected Sarasota Jazz Festival, which presents some of the greatest musicians on today's jazz scene in an eclectic mix of free and ticketed events. The 36th Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival, from March 3-12, 2016, will feature Dick Hyman, Bucky Pizzarelli, Ken Peplowski, Wycliffe Gordon, Howard Alden, and Diego Figueiredo among others.

Other ongoing Jazz Club programs include weekly Jazz at 2 concerts from October through April, a concert series, Jazz on the Water cruises and the annual Satchmo Award, which we have bestowed on more than 30 jazz luminaries including Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Dave Brubeck, Dr. Billy Taylor and George Shearing. The Jazz Club also presents educational programs, promotes high school jazz bands and has granted nearly one-quarter million dollars in scholarships to aspiring young jazz musicians over the years. We've been able to accomplish so much with very little because our volunteers generously donate their time and talent. Your contribution will help us to keep doing what we're doing__and even allow us to expand our scholarship program. Every donation from $25 to $250 will be matched! To join in our mission and ensure that we receive a matching grant for your donation, follow three simple steps:

  1. Log on to www.givingpartnerchallenge.org from noon to noon on September 1-2.

  2. Select the Jazz Club of Sarasota.

  3. Make your donation with a credit card or debit card.

That's all there is to it!

If you need help or do not have a computer, please contact our office for assistance. We will be available on Tuesday, September 1, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 2, from 9 a.m. to noon.

We humbly ask that you join us in our mission by makingand painlessly doublingyour contribution to the future of jazz and the Jazz Club of Sarasota.

With sincere gratitude,

Peg Pluto, President
